“This has been an extraordinarily different semester for everyone -- faculty, staff and students – as we navigated teaching, learning and living during a pandemic. I’m both proud and grateful for how the campus community rallied to overcome this unique challenge while at the same time maintaining some normalcy of life,” President Jennifer Orlikoff said as the fall semester drew to a close.
Students in Professor Ruth Upton’s class, along with members of the PSC Serves You Club and the Student Government Association, coordinated a shoe drive this past year for children of the Kibera slums in Nairobi, Kenya. Learn how these PSC students’ efforts made a difference in children’s lives halfway around the world.
The fourth annual Day of Giving event is scheduled for March 3, 2021. Development Director Keri Whitacre explains the value in The Day of Giving and how this fundraising event can support priorities and opportunities specific to Potomac State College.
ProPublica is honoring PSC Alumnus Ken Ward Jr., Class of ’87, as one of six journalists
for their inaugural Distinguished Fellows Program. Ward explains the role Potomac
State College played in preparing him for his career. “Potomac State College helped
inspire and prepare me for the many adventures I've been able to enjoy in life.
In particular, professors like Tony Whitmore, Dallas Shafer, and Charlie Whitehill
had large influences on me. Dr. Whitmore in particular was so important in my own
education and my love of writing."
The College’s University Relations team has observed that when we post photos from the past, it conjures up fond memories and elicits comments from our alumni who consider their time at Potomac State College some of the best years of their lives. We see this as a great opportunity for our current students to see and learn what the College has meant to former students. So, check-in on the Potomac State College Facebook page for “throwback photos” and share your past experiences.
The College Athletic Department will add men's and women's cross country as NJCAA-sanctioned athletic options for the 2021-2022 academic year. This will mark a rebirth
of the program that existed at Potomac State for five seasons before being put on pause following the 2018 season.
The College’s Esports team brought home two trophies in the ECAC Madden competition.
Alex Oates and Jacob Biser played for the championship, while teammates Malik Gale
and Evan Moreland finished the tournament run in the semifinals. Congratulations
on a team effort in bringing home the championship trophies!
