Students return to a more “normal” fall 2021 semester

Students moving in at WVU Potomac State College for the fall 2021 semester

WVU Potomac State College kicked off its 119th fall semester a bit more normal than the previous year when the COVID-19 pandemic required strict precautionary measures. This year, WVU’s highest priority across all campuses has been to offer students a fully in-person, on-campus academic and student experience. As always, the safety of students, faculty, staff, and guests continues to be an important guiding factor.

While WVU has not required vaccinations, they have strongly encouraged everyone to be vaccinated and to verify their vaccine status.

As the semester has progressed, Potomac State’s campus community has had to be flexible and adapt to the ever-changing situations COVID-19 and the delta variant has presented.

Honorees this year include Kenneth Haines, Class of 1950, PSC professor emeritus of modern languages, to be awarded the Alumni Achievement award posthumously; A. Jay Root, Mineral County Health Department Administrator, will receive the Distinguished Service award; and Logan DelSignore, Class of 2012, a local realtor and entrepreneur will receive the Young Alumni Achievement award.

Keyser’s Paige Durr receives Dulin Memorial Scholarship for 2021-2022

Paige Durr, left, is this year’s recipient of the WVU Potomac State College Dulin Memorial Scholarship. She is a freshman studying exercise physiology. Pictured with Durr is the College’s Development Director Keri Whitacre.

The Dulin Memorial Scholarship was created by George and Joann Oss in July 2016. The couple established the scholarship in memory of George’s maternal grandmother, Cora A. Dulin, who raised both him and his younger sister after the passing of their mother when he was just four years old. The scholarship is intended to recognize Cora Dulin’s interest in education, especially for those in need of financial aid.
