This fall, the College will offer the first two years of WVU’s Human Nutrition and Foods major on the Keyser campus. The program is designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career as a registered dietitian or nutritionist.
Alumni invited to virtual showing of "Two Regimes – A Mother’s Memoir of the Holodomor and the Holocaust"
The Potomac State College Alumni Association is co-sponsoring along with the Mary
F. Shipper Library a showing of the movie, “
Two Regimes – A Mother’s Memoir of the Holodomor and the Holocaust
”. This timely presentation is the life’s work of two Ukrainian women: A Mother
(Teodora Verbitskaya), who wrote about her life from 1920 to 1945, and her daughter
Nadia Werbitzky, a professionally trained artist who painted from memory. Teodora
and Nadia were witnesses to both the
Holodomor and the
Holocaust in Ukraine.
The virtual showing will take place on Wednesday, April 20, at 6 p.m.
First Spoerl scholarships to be awarded
The Potomac State College Alumni Association is proud to announce the awarding of the first two scholarships based on the generous bequest by John Philip Spoerl, Class of 1963. Mr. Spoerl created a perpetual trust, as part of his estate, which funds a scholarship for students enrolled in Business Administration at WVU Potomac State College. The Potomac State College Alumni Association is administering this scholarship as directed by Mr. Spoerl in his trust plan.
Charles Ryan, Class of 1960, named 2022 outstanding alumnus
Charles “Charlie” Ryan, Class of 1960, is this year’s alumni honoree to be named to the Duke Anthony Whitmore/Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Academic Achievement Wall, which recognizes the scholarly activities of the College’s students, faculty and alumni. Ryan will be recognized, along with the other named Whitmore/Gates scholars, during the 82nd Annual Recognition Day Program to be held Sunday, April 24, at 2 p.m., in the Church-McKee Arts Center.

Alumni Board President shares engagement survey results, Day of Giving follow-up
In the last newsletter, I requested your participation in the first-ever alumni engagement survey to evaluate current alumni engagement activities and to support the development of future activities. I’d like to thank the 200-plus alumni who took the time to complete the survey. I’m happy to share some interesting outcomes and insights from our alumni responses.
